Hi All,
And special it became. The tropospheric Band II conditions that started yesterday evening, developed into the best opening towards Spain I have seen. Some highlights:
- Never before did I get 13 stations from Spain in a single opening, all of them at more than 1250 km distance
- Some of the Spanish txs run only a couple of kW
- The Spanish DX was audible for approximately 12 hours, which is much longer than ever before
- Several low power stations from the UK and France were audible
- The intensity of the opening was high enough to enable many stations reaching RDS levels
- I had 13 first time catches, which is a lot after almost 45 years of D-ing
- My personal tropospheric DX distance record was broken and is now 1411 km
A very good start to the autumn season!
And I should not forget to mention that the Hepburn tropo forecast was incredibly accurate.
